TVs & Displays

The picture, in a lit room. Compare verified specs, real pricing and home-theater compatibility across every model we track.

For most rooms the TV is the display half of the system, and the panel technology decides its character: self-emissive panels (OLED, QD-OLED) switch pixels fully off for perfect blacks and rule dim rooms; Mini-LED backlights trade that last bit of contrast for the brightness a sunny living room demands. Beyond the panel, the details that actually bite are gaming-related — VRR support and which HDMI ports carry full bandwidth, since many sets put 4K/120 on only some inputs. Our catalog records these per model from source-tracked specs, three-state where the spec is a yes/no: a feature nobody stated is recorded as unstated, never assumed absent. Prices are live estimates from tracked, trusted retailers, cheapest first. If a projector is on your mind instead, the honest fork in the road is light control; for sizing, divide your seating distance before you default to the showroom size.

Buying tvs & displays — common questions

Which TV panel type should you buy?

Dark or light-controlled room, movies first: OLED, or QD-OLED if the budget stretches. Bright room, sports and daytime TV: Mini-LED, no contest. The three technologies, decoded.

What size TV should you get?

Measure seat-to-screen distance in inches and divide by 1.6 for a comfortable everyday size, or by 1.2 for a properly cinematic one — a 10-foot seat lands between 75" and 98". Most people buy a size smaller than their room deserves. The seating-distance math.

Is OLED burn-in still a problem?

Only for static content — a news ticker running all day, or desktop-monitor duty. For varied movie and TV viewing, modern panels make it a non-issue; buy for your room's light and your content instead.

Do you need HDMI 2.1 on a TV?

Only for 4K/120 gaming from a current-gen console or PC — movies and TV fit comfortably in HDMI 2.0 bandwidth. The trap: many sets carry full bandwidth on only some ports, so confirm which input actually does 4K/120. What HDMI 2.1 buys you.
