Seating

Recliners and rows — where you actually watch. Compare verified specs, real pricing and home-theater compatibility across every model we track.

A recliner is the one component you buy with a tape measure: get the per-seat width, the fully-reclined depth, or the wall clearance wrong and the row either won't fit the room or won't fully recline in it. So those are the numbers this catalog leads with — seat width, reclined depth, recline type, and weight capacity per seat — each recorded from the manufacturer's own spec with per-field provenance. The honest limit shapes what you see: home-theater seating makers are wildly inconsistent about publishing per-seat specs. Some state only an overall footprint and never the seat-area width; others never publish a per-seat weight capacity. The catalog focuses on the models with those fit-and-safety specs published; where a maker leaves one of them unstated, the product page shows it as unknown rather than a guessed number, and models whose published specs fall too far short are held in our database until the missing dimensions get published. Prices are live estimates from tracked retailers, cheapest first. Measuring your room first? Seating distance sets your screen size too; the home-theater seating guide covers the dimensions that matter and the full brand landscape — including Palliser, the brand shoppers ask us about most.

Buying seating — common questions

How wide is a home theater seat?

Plan on roughly 22 to 26 inches of seat width per person, plus the armrests between them — a row of three lands near 80 to 90 inches wide overall. Measure your doorways and the wall you're placing against before you buy, because a fixed row can't be angled through a tight opening. The dimensions that actually matter.

Why are some seating models missing from this list?

Because listing is earned by published specs. Our bar: the strong majority of listed models must state each buyer-critical spec — seat width, reclined depth, recline type, and per-seat weight capacity. Models whose makers publish too few of them (an overall footprint but never a seat-area width, or no weight capacity anywhere) are kept in our database but held back until those numbers are published. Listed models can still carry a single unknown — shown as "unstated" on the product page, never guessed. The brand landscape, honestly.

How much wall clearance does a recliner need?

A standard recliner needs several inches behind it to lie back, so it can't sit flush to the wall; a wall-hugger ("zero-wall") design glides forward as it reclines and needs almost none. It's the spec that decides whether a given row fits your room depth — check the reclined depth and wall clearance, not just the upright footprint. More on fitting a row.

How much weight can a home theater recliner hold?

Where a maker publishes it, per-seat capacity typically runs from about 300 lbs on standard lines to 400 lbs on big-and-tall ranges — and we store the figure only when the manufacturer states it, never a guessed number. Some makers don't publish it at all: on a listed model that reads as an honest "unstated" on the product page, and models missing it alongside other key specs are held back from the list entirely.
